September in Spain
We set off from sunny Plymouth and set sail for Santander on a warm September afternoon. The weather was perfect.

A fin Whale breeching on the morning of us arriving in Santander.

and arrived in very sunny weather, as you can see from the photo above.
Next we had to negotiate our way through this lovely city, but watch out for the cars on the roundabouts.
As you can see from the following photos we had a great time, even if we did have one day of Rain and one showery day.

The camp site was excellant as was the restaurant. Most days started of a little grey with some lovely views of the mountains drapped in cloud. The cloud soon left, otherwise it was El Scorchio.

The scenery was spectacular the hills were very long, the valleys where stunning, the views everywhere, magnificent

St Budeaux CC History from 1936
Now through the power of the internet I recieved an email from Anne Hawkins who's father Victor Glover was a member of the St Budeaux Cycling Club, back in 1936, so was his brother Leslie.
Also in the picture is another member Ed Gill.
The first photo I recieved was of the club members on a village green on a see saw.

Victor isn't in this picture.
Anne then kindly sent me more photos of the club members, this time sittin on a clapper bridge.
Isent these photos to Doreen and Rogere` to see if they recognised anyone. Sadley they where taken before thier time.

Anne thought the following photos were of a cycling holiday her father took to the city of Bath.

Annes father is on the right, leaning on his bike with Ed Gill seated and an unknown rider.
In this picture Victors bike looks to have a rear deraileur.

Victor in the centre with Ed and two unknowns on the left.
(two unknowns were in the see saw picture)

Victor is leaning on the post with Ed seated.

Victor on the lower step with unknown.

And in the final picture Victor is sat on the gate looking at the map with two unknowns.
These are a fascinating look into the club from the past. What I find interesting is they all appear to be smoking and wearing rather natty jackets. It isn't raining and there are no cars, so it is possible to do without cars.
In about 1939 Victor moved to Bath where he met Annes mother and stopped cycling.
Anne was sorry never to have asked her father the names of the other men in the pictures.
Annes father would tell her about his cycling adventures and the distances they travelled.
Annes uncle Les played cycle polo, but thats all she knows about his cycling exploits.

Uncle Les is arrowed here in a match against Bath, no results known.
About 1945ish.
Anne rode with the local CTC.
A big thank you to Anne for sharing these historic photos of her father and members of St Budeaux Club way back in those car free days of cycling. Thank you Anne.
